I have a slight addiction to pickled gherkins; especially during the witching hour, when everything is silent and my imagination can run wild. I swear that I’ve been bitten by a bottom-of-the-jar pickle!

It’s been slow on the cartooning front for me lately, the usual excuses apply; work, lack of inspiration, laziness etc… I hope to head up into the mountains in the next couple of weeks, the fresh air will get the ideas flowing.

I like Schnozz’s philosophy on wishes. I also like Ginger Beer. This is the last of my “newspaper format” strips, they failed miserably to get published in any sort of mainstream publication, which doesn’t surprise me considering that the most common response when I show people my cartoons is “I don’t really get the joke”.

One of the funniest blogs I’ve ever read has to be Hyperbole and a Half, check it out if you like laughing a lot!

I like coffee! I like it because it helps me draw cartoons, but I’m a bit of a coffee snob, so I only buy the best quality I can afford. For this reason I’ve put a “donate” button in the sidebar, this is nice cos if you want you can buy me a cup of coffee from the comfort of your own computer! Isn’t technology cool?

I was running a Project Wonderful advert on the sidebar for a couple days, just trying out the whole advertising thing, y’know… trying to monetize me blog. I started to get a strange feeling inside my stomach, I started having horrible nightmares about drinking wine and laughing with Satan. I removed the advert and all is back to normal. It’s amazing that even a 125x125px advert can plunge you into cahoots with the devil!

One of the great things about being married is that you don’t have to break up.

The fear of disappointing people is something which I used to struggle with. It got me into really horrible situations where someone would get disappointed eventually. Learning to say no is one of the greatest lessons I’ve ever learned.

My wife’s childhood dog was named Lenchin.

I’ve been unhappy with the composition of these strips. The lettering is placed badly, to the point where it’s hard to read. I did a bit of research and found this awesome article by David King.

Life is about learning.

I used to irritate my friends with a list of attributes my soul mate would need to have; freckles, a squishy nose, wonderful smile etc… to the astonishment of my friends I actually married the person on my list. Make lists of things you want, it works:)

My friend and mentor N.D. Mazin took part in Periscopages 2010 in France, he did this awesome 24 hour comic as part of the conference. I love the way his drawing degenirates as the story develops and gets weirder.

There was an awesome graphic novel master class held in Cape Town this past weekend, I was unable to attend. There is not much information about the outcome of the event, the only info I can get is from their Facebook page.

I’m sadly very opinionated. This I’ve realised is not always a good thing, as opinions can be formed without facts or knowledge about the issue. I doubt that many scientists have lots of opinions as they thrive on facts. I wonder then if I sought the facts before making up my opinion would I be any more right about the issue than if I just had faith in my belief?

Sometimes it’s overwhelming, sometimes beautiful, boring, worrying, fun, crazy, amusing, depressing, hilarious, stressful, relaxing… Whatever life is, it’s definitely scary!

I’m not a huge fan of political cartoons, I find them a bit insulting to people’s intelligence. This opinion, I’m positive, is based on jealousy. I do however recommend a handful of political cartoonists, as they have a unique take on the world and it’s woes. One such cartoonist is Mr Fish.
